Dollars and Sense: Hearing Aid Financial Assistance

May 20, 2025

One of the biggest questions around hearing aids is how to pay for them, which agencies provide assistance, and who qualifies for which assistance.  Let’s break it down!

Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)

This is typically for Alberta residents at the age of 65 or older.  At that point you qualify for partial or full coverage depending on your income and the hearing aids you choose.  Click here to learn more about who else is eligible.

Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB)

This is for people who have a hearing loss as a result of their work environment (current or prior). When you meet your hearing care provider for the first time and discuss your issues, they may identify you as a potential WCB applicant based on your work history, the hearing issues you may be struggling with, and the results of your hearing test. Click here to see an overview of the application.

Veterans Affairs Canada (DVA)

This is for Veterans who have a hearing loss resulting from their time in service. Eligibility can usually be confirmed by referencing the Veteran’s K number. Click here to learn more.

Campbell McLaurin Foundation

This is a foundation that was created to help people access funding for hearing aids that may otherwise need additional financial assistance. Click here to learn more about what they do.
